Welcome to Les Løges!

I welcome you to your Loge. I hope you will have as much fun staying in this chalet as I had imagining it!

My name is Janie Lejour and I am your host, founding owner of Les Loges, ressourcement thermal en forêt. I am an elementary school teacher by profession, and myself a fan of stays in comfortable, high-quality chalets. I had difficulty finding the chalet I had in mind, I dreamed it, then I transformed my dream into reality by creating Les Loges! Thank you for your trust and for choosing us for your stay.

Your arrival

As the heating comes from radiant heated floors, you must allow one hour to gain one degree. You can raise or lower the temperature as you wish, but we ask you to reset the thermostats to the temperature indicated on them when you leave.

As the thermostats are set to “floor”, the ambient air is generally cooler than the temperature indicated. For example, if they're set at 24 degrees, the actual room air temperature will be closer to 22 degrees.

Bear in mind, too, that starting a fire can significantly increase the temperature of the loge.

Your departure

We ask that you leave the chalet as you found it, with the exception of basic cleaning, that is to say:

✷ Dishes washed and/or dishwasher loaded and started, as well as counters cleaned.

✷ If you used sheets for the sofa bed, we ask that you leave them on the sofa.

✷ Empty recycling, trash and compost containers into the large outdoor bins.

✷ Make sure you haven't forgotten anything in the Loge (check in the hammam, in the dryer, on the two exterior terraces). If you ask us to ship forgotten items to you, a handling fee of $25 plus taxes will apply as well as postage costs.

✷ If you have changed the temperature of the thermostats, reset them to the temperature indicated on them.

✷ Close and lock all doors and turn off all lights.

Living room

✷ TV

The TV is smart, so you can connect to your Netflix account. It is possible to pull the TV out a little to change its orientation, but you must carefully handle the mount and place it close to the wall when you are not using it.

✷ Sofa Bed

Linens for the sofa bed mattress are located in the bottom (chaise lounge) section of the sofa bed. Leave the sheets on the couch after use.

✷ Massage oil

If you use massage oil , please cover our bed or sofa bed with your own sheets so as not to stain ours.

✷ Stüv indoor fireplace

October to May, cold weather only.

Step 1 - How to

open the fireplace

The home Stûv is used like a standard fireplace.

✷ The glass door is opened using a metal handle with a hexagonal tip (photo 2 and 3).

✷ This handle is stored inside the lower fireplace door Stûv (photos 2 and 3).

1 - Insert the end of the handle into the hexagonal hole on the right-hand side of the glass door (photo 3).

2 — Rotate the handle to unlock and lock the door.

Step 2 - How to

Light a fire

✷ Before lighting the fire, open the air inlet as much as possible: the air inlet is located under the stove, in the lower front part. Move the metal handle to the right to open it.

1 — Light a sheet of newspaper and let it burn to ensure that the chimney is “pulling” the smoke.

2 — Add paper balls, kindling wood and a small log.

3 — Leave the fireplace door slightly ajar to make lighting easier.

4 — Once the fire is well established, close the door.

Step 3 - How to

Keep the flame alive :)

✷ It will be more difficult to light a fire if you run the hammam fan at the same time.

✷ Note that given the waterproofness of the chalet, you can open very slightly the patio door to avoid smoke returning from the fireplace.

✷ You also have the possibility of orienting the fireplace. To do this, using the handle, pull on the cylinder identified with the letter A (open the lower door, at the bottom)

Step 4 - How to

Dispose of ashes

1 — Ashes can be emptied from the firebox by activating the identified handle B (inside the lower door, top right).

2 — Ashes will be deposited in the ash drip tray, which is located under the fireplace.

3 — To access the ash drip tray (grey metal drawer tray), open the lower firebox door.

✷ Important

When it is filled, the cooled ash must be emptied into the ash boiler located outside the Loge, near the outdoor fireplace. Make sure the ashes are cold before removing them from the fireplace. Never dump ashes directly on the ground.

✷ Window cleaning

The detergent for the fireplace glass is located under the kitchen sink.

Outdoor fireplace and BBQ

Outdoor fireplace (summer/winter)

It is strictly forbidden to build an outdoor fire anywhere other than in the fireplace provided, and we ask you not to move the fireplace. Please use a reasonable quantity of logs, so that we don't have to charge customers for them or control the number of logs used. We rely on your good judgment.

*Please deposit the cooled ashes in the ash boiler outside the Loge.

BBQ

Use as a standard propane BBQ. If you finish a propane tank, you'll find a second one in the room accessible from the outside, at the back of the Loge (or in an outside bin at the back for Loge 181). Please leave the empty one by the BBQ to let us know so we can refill it.

Kitchen

Dish soap

Rub the round rag on the solid soap (the eucalyptus dishwashing cake) in the glass jar, then use the rag to wash the dishes by hand.

Dishwasher soap

Place a tablespoon (15 ml) of magic powder (under the sink) or 1 capsule in the dishwasher receptacle.

Diswasher

Make sure the dishwasher door is open, press the start button (on/off) for 3 seconds, located on the left on the top of the door. Then press start (on the right), and close the dishwasher.

Household waste

After emptying the containers into the large bins, if you need to reuse them;

✷ Put a bag in the trash.

✷ Place a paper towel only at the bottom of the compost bin (no bags).

✷ No bags should be put in the recycling bin.

Important

Waste collection takes place only once a month. Please compost and recycle.

Coffee

Keurig coffee maker (for capsules only)

✷ Start the machine by pressing the 🜕 button.

✷ If the small blue light add water is on, add water to the tank.

✷ Place the capsule in the black receptacle of the machine.

✷ Place a cup on the grill.

✷ When the quantity buttons flash, select the medium format .

✷ Once the coffee is brewed, rinse the capsule if it is a reusable capsule.

Filter coffee maker (ground coffee)

If you brought filter coffee, you will find a filter coffee maker on the rolling shelf.

Shower faucet

Rotate the large rod to switch from rain shower to telephone shower.

Rotate the small rod to adjust the temperature clockwise for cooler and anti-clockwise for warmer.

The thermal cycle

1 — Hot

Start with a 15-minute session in one of our hot installation : spa, sauna or hammam. Warmth helps to dilate your skin pores and blood vessels, with the aim of eliminating toxins from your body.

2 — Cold

Follow up with 15 to 30 seconds of cold, via our outdoor shower or the hammam shower set with cold water. The drastic temperature contrast will tighten your pores and improve your blood circulation, which is essential to reap the benefits of thermotherapy.

3 — Relaxation

Treat yourself to 15 minutes (or more) of relaxation to recuperate from this experience, letting your body return to normal. Release your muscular tensions and take advantage of this resourcing in the forest for maximum relaxation. It's important to stay hydrated at this stage.

Spa

Please hang your wet swimsuits on the hooks inside the hammam so they don't drip onto the concrete floor.

A soapy shower in your swimsuit before entering the spa is mandatory. Press the different keys: Jets, Lights or Cold/warm (temperature) according to your needs. To open or close a water jet, gently swirl the knob. Be careful, the same movement performed more firmly serves to completely remove the water jet from the hole. Please put the spa temperature back to 101°F (or 98°F in summer) before you leave. Always replace the cover when the spa is not in use, otherwise it will not maintain its temperature. Beverages may be consumed while using the spa, but please use plastic glasses to avoid breakage.

Important : There is a chlorine container near the outside door to the spa terrace. Please add two spoonfuls of chlorine after using the spa, for a maximum of once a day.

Swedish dry sauna

The sauna control is located in the corridor between the bathroom and the exterior door. It's a small black screen.

Press 🜕 to start sauna heating. You can adjust the temperature by pressing the icon thermometer and then on + or -. We recommend that you set the temperature to 172°F (78°C). The sauna takes approximately 30 minutes to reach temperature and will automatically turn off after 60 minutes. Please turn off the sauna when you exit by pressing 🜕.

Important: you must place a towel on the bench before sitting down.

If you wish, you can put a little water in the boiler which is located under the sink in the bathroom and bring it with you into the sauna. This will allow you to throw a little water on the hot stones during your session and increase the feeling of heat. Put the empty bowl back under the bathroom sink at the end of each session.

Outdoor cold waterfall

Press top button once = 60 seconds of hot water.

Press bottom button once = 60 seconds of cold water.

If you press both buttons at the same time, you'll get a mixture of hot and cold water.

Note that the absence of a shower head prevents the pipes from freezing in winter, and allows more intense contact with cold water during thermotherapy.

Eucalyptus hammam

If you wish to add eucalyptus aromatherapy during your session, you can pour two small drops of eucalyptus essential oil into the small rectangular cavity of the metal steam outlet located at the bottom of the bench.This MUST be done before starting the hammam.

Press 🜕 to start steam. We recommend that you set the temperature to 100°F (38°C). It may take a few minutes for steam to start coming out. Steam will exit from the bottom of the wall on the control side. It's obviously very hot so avoid going near this steam outlet when it's working and take a seat on the opposite bench.

After using the steam bath, it is essential to leave the glass door on the corridor side ajar and turn on the fan (clearly identified button on the wall). The fan will turn off by itself after 60 minutes.

Lake access

🚗2 min drive OR 10 min walk—Access to the lake is just a few steps from your Loge. Note that it's a 350-metre walkway. Enjoy the view while sipping your morning coffee! Parking available. Private access to the lake is shared by all owners of the Memphrémagog domain on the lake. Dogs (on short leash) welcome.

The Panorama trail

🚗4 min drive— The 5.6 km trail is located on Noël, Kohl and Bégin roads and can be used by walkers, cyclists, cross-country skiers and snowshoers alike. As it is not groomed in winter, you'll have to make your own trails. Dogs (on short leashes) welcome.

The Tomifobia nature trail

🚗7 min drive— Your Loge is located near the Tomifobia Nature Trail: a 19-km multi-purpose trail from Ayer's Cliff to Stanstead. Enjoy hiking, biking, jogging and cross-country skiing. Dogs (on short leash) welcome.

FITCHBAY - GEORGEVILLE 🚗 11 min drive

Come and discover the Narrows covered bridge at our place in Fitchbay, then go to the village of Georgeville, on the shores of Lake Memphremagog, which has retained its old-fashioned character, among other things with its white residences, its boarding dock and its typical vintage general store. Enjoy a gourmet meal at the McGowan Inn restaurant (Thursday to Sunday).

STANSTEAD 🚗 15 min drive

The Town of Stanstead is recognized for its historical and architectural heritage and is described as one of the most beautiful villages in Quebec. You will find heritage circuits to do on foot on the municipality's website.

Coaticook

A short hike to Parc de la Gorge day or night at Foresta Lumina (book in advance), the site is truly majestic! After your exertions, head to the Coaticook Microbrewery and cross the street to visit the Dairy for some cheese curds! Coaticook and its sister town Compton are brimming with fantastic farms and artisan food producers! Find them at Public market on Thursday evenings in summer, or visit them directly at the farm.

Magog

Brasserie des Cantons - enjoy a fine selection of locally brewed beers and a colorful menu with a view of the Magog River which opens before your eyes onto the majestic Lake Memphremagog. Continue on foot on the other side of the viaduct towards the famous Pointe Merry where you can walk along the lake, and even take a dip in good weather. Do you like the beach? Visit Cantons Beach, a few kilometers further, and have a drink at Pub le Chalet. The Magog Public Market is located opposite every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Bleue lavande lavender grove, located in Magog, is a true haven of peace full of incomparable scents, exceptional landscapes and unique sensory experiences. To be discovered!

On the way home

Orford

Walking tour of the city center! Stop for a coffee at the Géogène counter or a beer at Canton Brasse, and taste the delicious pizzas cooked by Georges des Deux Tomates. You have plenty to do in Orford, you can continue on foot to Pied Sportif, stopping at the famous Beignes Dora (donut bakery).

On the way home

Eastman

Heading back towards Montreal or strolling to the other side of Mont-Orford, you can visit Bowen café or LA Station, Eastman's village cafés. Enjoy a moment of rest in the Biergarden and breathe... you can walk to the beach on rue Martin, or cross the highway and go for a short (or longer) hike in the Sentiers Missisquoi-Nord (3 or 7 km, accessible free of charge).
